This afternoon we roll out on the start of a nearly 4K mile round trip that will take us across the Great Planes, over the Rocky Mountains, and past the Great Salt Lake.
We will be arriving on the hallowed ground Bonneville Salt Flats; a place where man has gone faster than any place on Earth. We are campaigning perhaps the most iconic hot rod of all time; the 1932 Ford Roadster.
We've installed the new center section on the car swapping the gears from 3.23's to 3.53's hoping to pull a few more miles per hour. We're pretty much loaded up right now as far as the race equipment goes.
Russ, Destin, and I will be picking up our rental car this afternoon, packing it full of stuff, and meeting Paul and Billma somewhere on the road. The idea is to make it past Chi-town tonight, through the majority of the trip tomorrow, spend Friday night in Salt Lake City and hit the salt bright and early Saturday morning. I'll try and update as we roll across the country.
Here's a short clip of Paul and Russ loading the '32 roadster onto the trailer being towed by the '32 truck. The truck is upgraded with a small block Chevy, power brakes, AC, ect. The next time the car comes off the trailer it will be on the salt!
